Coca-Cola: Photo Report on the Grand Opening of the Club Coca-Cola on the Seine

On June 11, 2026—the day the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off—I covered the opening night of the Club Coca-Cola, a pop-up venue set up on a barge at the Quai de la Photo in Paris’s 13th arrondissement, across from the Accor Arena.

A pop-up venue to experience the World Cup in Paris

Coca-Cola, a FIFA partner for nearly 50 years, conceived the Club as a place for people to gather and watch the matches: giant screens, DJ sets, showcases by emerging artists, food and entertainment. Visitors could also create their own personalized Panini sticker, have their face engraved on a can, or stop by the “Rollercoaster” photo booth. Following the invitation-only opening night, the Club was open to the public free of charge—with a capacity of approximately 800 people—from June 12 to July 19, 2026.

Evenement.com describes it as a “content factory”: a space designed for fans, content creators, and the media to produce and share their images live. It’s a concept in which photojournalism truly comes into its own.

The opening night: guests, content creators, and a live game

For the grand opening, numerous guests, content creators, and celebrities were invited to experience the event created by Coca-Cola and to watch the game live, with commentary provided by hosts on the set installed on board.

My assignment: working alone as a photographer, delivering about 60 photos before the end of the game

I was the sole photographer for this opening event. My assignment: to cover the evening from start to finish—from the venue and its decor to the entertainment, the stage, the moments of connection, and portraits of the guests. So that Coca-Cola could share the images immediately, I edited the photos right there on site and delivered about sixty images that very same evening, before 11 p.m., at the end of the match, in the style of a brand event: bold colors, a red atmosphere, and the energy of the World Cup.
